How will you contribute?

As a Senior IP & Licensing Officer within the LIST Partnership and Venture Office, you will play a critical role in bridging cutting-edge research with industrial applications. Working in close collaboration with research units and business developers, you will be responsible for the identification, protection, monitoring and managing of our IP portfolio, with a special focus on the life and environmental sciences portfolio. You will have a watch on policies and new regulations related to IP and raises awareness on IP-related matters among the researchers. As the primary point of contact for Invention Disclosure Forms, you will in collaboration with the most suitable Business Developer, evaluate the Commercial Readiness Level (CRL) and Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of projects, defining a valorisation roadmap. You will be actively involved in contract negotiations to safeguard LIST's IP strategy, ensuring that collaborative contracts, licensing deals, and spin-off agreements do not compromise or contaminate LIST's interests. In collaboration with the legal office, you will support the drafting and review of IP-related clauses in contracts.

Profil

 

You will be mainly in charge of:

  • Identifying and assessing promising technologies and associated IP generated by LIST’s research units.
  • Conducting IP landscape analyses and identifying strategic "white spots" for potential exploitation.
  • Contributing to the writing and submission of patents applications and follows-up their processing till the obtention of resolutions. Interacts with external parties (e.g., patent attorneys, IP organisations, experts, etc.) to follow-up and ensure processing.
  • Managing the IP lifecycle, including patent filings, maintenance, and portfolio optimization within the life sciences domain.
  • Supporting the prioritization of technologies by identifying key industry partners and potential routes to market.
  • Supporting commercialization strategies in collaboration with researchers, research unit directors, business developers, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the search for licensees and assist in alternative valorization approaches (e.g., joint ventures, collaborative R&D).
  • Leading or contributing to license negotiations and explore innovative business models for IP transfer.
  • Managing the LIST IP portfolio (e.g., patents, trade secrets, copyrights, licences, etc.) by keeping databases updated, elaborating reports, and putting information available for the LIST management and the RDI units to support decision making.
  • Contributing to LIST’s overall IP and tech transfer strategy, helping to shape long-term impact.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as Business Development, LIST Venture, Business Intelligence, Legal Department, and fellow members of the IP & licence team.
  • Proposing improvements to processes or systems to improve efficiency of area of work and evaluates feasibility and effectiveness of solutions.
  • Keeping fluent communications with int/ext. parties related to valorisation matters.
  • Participating in coaching and awareness sessions on IP/Valorisation policies, practices, and procedures in-force in LIST.

  • Master’s or PhD in life sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5 years required) in technology transfer, IP management, or innovation valorization.
  • Good knowledge of technical savvy as to understand new technologies and to see the valorisation potential in environmental and life sciences.
  • Strong understanding of patent law, IP valuation, and market analysis.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, you enjoy working with colleagues from different fields.
  • Fluency in English; both written as oral; knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment.
